Partner Voting Software for Law Firms and Accounting Firms

MeetingPulse is partnership voting software for law firms, accounting firms, and other professional partnerships. Run partner admission votes, compensation approvals, and governance decisions with ballots weighted to each partner's actual vote value under the partnership agreement, results visible only to the administrator, and a partner roster you upload once and reuse all year.

Partners vote from a link in their email. No account, no app, and no need to sit in the meeting to cast a ballot.

Why partner votes need more than a survey tool

A partnership vote carries weight that a staff poll never does. The partnership agreement dictates who votes, how much each vote counts, and what threshold a decision must clear. Most firms run into the same friction:
Vote values, not head counts
Equity partners hold different points or percentages. A show of hands or a one-person-one-vote survey misrepresents the actual result.
A high approval threshold
Many agreements require two-thirds or 75 percent of total points, not of votes cast. The administrator needs the running total in points to know whether the motion has cleared it.
Confidentiality
Partners will not vote honestly on a colleague’s admission or compensation if anyone else can see how they voted. Results typically go to one person only.
Absent partners
Travel and client work mean a live vote never captures the full partnership. Firms need a voting window that stays open after the meeting, and proxies where the agreement permits them.
The same list, many votes
Lateral admissions, comp cycles, and executive committee elections all draw from the same partner roster. Rebuilding that list for every vote is how errors creep in.
A record
When a decision is questioned later, the managing partner needs to show who was eligible, who voted, and what was counted.
General survey tools fail the first two. Dedicated election tools handle the ballot but force the roster to be rebuilt each time. MeetingPulse keeps the partner roster, the vote values, and the record in one place.

How partnership voting works in MeetingPulse

Before the meeting

Set up the partner roster once

Upload a spreadsheet with each partner’s name, email, and vote value. That is the entire required set. Add a column for practice group, office, or partner class if certain votes should reach only a subset of the partnership. Mark the meeting to require unique access codes so each partner receives exactly one ballot.
During the meeting

Run the vote, live or after the meeting

Create the ballot in advance, one question per decision: one poll per lateral candidate, one for the comp plan, one for each bylaw amendment. Open each vote when the partnership is ready. For votes that need time, leave the ballot open for a set window after the meeting so partners who could not attend still cast their vote from their email link.
Partners click the link in their email and are logged in automatically. They see their own vote value on the ballot and submit. A thank-you message confirms the vote was recorded.
After the meeting

Watch the total in points, then export

The administrator sees the tally accumulate in the same units the partnership agreement uses. Switch the display from percentages to raw vote value so a partner with 18 points shows as 18, not as one response. When the vote closes, export the record for the firm’s files.

Upload your partner list once, reuse it for every vote

This is the difference between MeetingPulse and single-purpose election tools, and it is the reason firms switch.
Most partner voting tools require the administrator to rebuild the roster and re-enter vote values for every vote. MeetingPulse keeps the partner roster as a database. Upload it at the start of the fiscal year, then reuse it for lateral admissions in March, the comp vote in June, and executive committee elections in December. When a lateral partner is admitted, add one row. When vote values change after the comp cycle, edit the column.
Clone last year’s meeting as a template and the settings carry forward: access codes on, results hidden, thank-you message intact.

What one firm changed

A national law firm ran partner votes for years on a dedicated election platform. Every vote meant rebuilding the partner list and re-entering vote values, and the ballot emails required hand-coded links for each partner. The firm’s administrator described it as reinventing the wheel every time.

The firm now uploads its partner roster once a year, adds lateral partners as they are admitted, and runs each vote as a clone of the last. Vote values display as actual points so the administrator can see when a decision has reached the 75 percent threshold in the partnership agreement. Results are visible to one person only.

Partnership voting methods

Weighted by partnership share

Each partner's vote counts at their actual value: points, percentage, or units, whatever the agreement uses.

Confidential ballot with an audit record

How each partner voted is hidden from other partners. Results are visible only to the administrator until released, and can remain unreleased permanently. An auditor role, typically the general counsel or a member of the executive committee, can confirm which partners voted without seeing how.

Yes, no, abstain

The standard motion ballot, with abstentions recorded separately from no votes.

Proxy voting

Where the partnership agreement allows a partner to delegate their vote, the proxy holder sees the additional vote value they carry.

Ranked choice

For executive committee or managing partner elections with multiple candidates.

Point allocation

For prioritizing investments or strategic initiatives across several options.

Segmented ballots

Show a vote only to equity partners, only to one practice group, or only to one office, using the columns in your roster.

Partner voting inside Zoom, Teams, or after the meeting

Many partner meetings are hybrid: partners in the main office conference room, partners in other offices on video, and partners traveling.

Zoom or Teams in the browser

Partners join the meeting and the ballot appears alongside it. Nothing to install.

Zoom desktop app
MeetingPulse runs inside the meeting itself when the firm meets in the Zoom app.
After the meeting
Keep the ballot open for the window the partnership specifies so partners who missed the live discussion still vote from the email link
All counted together
Partners in the room, on video, and voting later all land in one result.

Security and confidentiality for partner votes

Each partner receives a ballot link tied to a unique access code. The code is embedded in the link, so clicking from their email logs them in without typing anything, and the same code prevents a second vote. Firms that restrict outside email can whitelist MeetingPulse’s sending domain; IT departments receive a short setup note during onboarding.

Results stay in the administrator’s view only. Nothing is displayed to partners after they vote except the confirmation message. The full record, including eligibility and participation, is exportable for the firm’s governance files.

The partnership remains responsible for confirming that its voting procedure follows the partnership agreement, including quorum, notice, and proxy rules.

Frequently asked questions about partner voting software

Can we weight votes by partnership points instead of one vote per partner?
Yes. Each partner’s vote value is a column in the roster you upload. Votes count at that value, and the administrator can display the tally in points rather than percentages to see directly whether a threshold has been met.
Only the administrator, by default. How each partner voted is never shown to other partners, and aggregate results stay hidden from the attendee view unless you choose to release them. If the firm wants a second set of eyes on participation, an auditor role shows who voted without revealing any individual vote.
Yes. The ballot can stay open for a defined window after the meeting, and partners vote from the link in their email whenever they are available within that window.
No. Upload the partner roster once and reuse it for every vote that year. Add new partners as they are admitted and adjust vote values when they change. Clone a past vote to carry its settings forward.
Yes. Add a partner class column to your roster and set the ballot to show only to that class. Non-equity partners in the same meeting never see it.

Each partner has a unique access code embedded in their ballot link. One code, one ballot.

MeetingPulse gives you the weighted tally in points, a live participation count, and the record you need to apply those rules. The platform does not calculate quorum or the threshold itself; the administrator reads the tally against the partnership agreement.
